From intimate lessons to birthday celebrations and private social play, HMS creates polished, welcoming mahjong experiences in our dedicated Westmont studio. We provide the space, tables, tiles, instruction and flow, so you can enjoy your guests instead of managing the evening.

Private events are available for up to 24 seated guests, with a limited number of dates offered each month.

PRIVATE LESSON

Starting at $350 for up to 4 guests

Additional guests: $65 each

A private, beginner-friendly introduction to American mahjong for your own group. We’ll cover the tiles, Charleston, National Mah Jongg League card, and the flow of play before guiding your group through its first game.

Includes:

  • Private use of HMS Mahjong Studio

  • All mahjong sets and game materials

  • Beginner instruction

  • Guided practice and play

  • Approximately 2½ hours

Perfect for friends, couples, family groups, or anyone who would rather learn privately before joining public play.

Best for: 4–12 guests

STUDIO SOCIAL

Starting at $500 for up to 12 guests

Additional guests: $30 each

Your own private mahjong club for the evening.

Designed for guests who already know how to play, the Studio Social includes exclusive use of HMS Mahjong Studio, beautifully prepared tables and light hosting throughout your gathering.

Includes:

  • Private use of the studio

  • Styled mahjong tables

  • Tiles, racks, mats and accessories

  • Game setup and scorecards

  • Light event hosting

  • Approximately 2 hours of play

  • Time for refreshments and socializing

Bring your favorite drinks and bites, settle in and play; we’ll take care of the room.

SIGNATURE CELEBRATION

Starting at $750 for up to 12 guests

Additional guests: $45 each

A hosted mahjong celebration designed around your occasion.

The Signature Celebration combines a private studio gathering with elevated details, hands-on hosting and a format tailored to your guests. It works beautifully for birthdays, girls’ nights, neighborhood gatherings, client events and groups with mixed levels of mahjong experience.

Includes:

  • Private use of HMS Mahjong Studio

  • Styled tables and a curated event setup

  • All mahjong equipment and materials

  • Customized welcome signage

  • Hosted instruction, guided play or organized social play

  • Light refreshments

  • Approximately 2½ hours

  • Setup and cleanup

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

  • Not at all. Choose the Private Lesson for a completely new group or the Signature Celebration for an event that includes instruction. Studio Socials are intended for guests who can already play independently.

  • The studio can accommodate up to 24 seated guests. Package minimums and ideal group sizes vary by event format.

  • Yes. We’ll provide specific studio guidelines when your event is confirmed.

  • Private dates are limited, especially on evenings and weekends. We recommend reaching out four to eight weeks in advance whenever possible.

  • Yes. A nonrefundable booking retainer reserves your date, with the remaining balance due before the event.
